Looking for things to do in Bucks County this fall? Start in New Hope. In and just beyond town, orchards open their rows to pickers, farms set out pumpkin patches and corn mazes, and farm markets stock cider and doughnuts.
If you’re thinking about moving to the area, October here shows what a regular weekend can look like. You don’t need a big trip. An orchard in the morning and a stop at the farm market on the way home will do it.
Solebury Orchards
Solebury Orchards sits at 3325 Creamery Road in New Hope. One local guide describes it as an 80-acre farm and orchard. According to the farm’s website, it grows more than 30 apple varieties each season.
Weekend apple picking requires a reservation. Slots for the following weekend open on Sunday evening, so you can’t book weeks ahead. A past listing put the fee at $2.50 per person, with children 4 and under free.
The 2026 season has a catch. A late April freeze reduced crops at some Pennsylvania orchards, and Solebury made up the gap with apples from New York orchards, placing bins in the picking rows. If picking straight from the tree matters to you, call before you go.
New this year are Craft Sundays, story time sessions, an Apple Scavenger Hunt starting in mid-September, and a dedicated pumpkin patch. A pick-your-own directory also lists weekend wagon rides through the orchards in September, October and the first weekend of November.
The market is worth the stop on its own. It sells applesauce, apple butter, apple chips, fresh cider and cider doughnuts.
Patch’s 2025 guide listed hours of Thursday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Manoff Market and Cidery
Manoff Market and Cidery, at 3157 Comfort Road in New Hope, offers apple and pear picking. Patch’s 2025 guide listed hours of Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Pumpkin Patches and Corn Mazes Near New Hope
Solebury’s new patch is the closest option. For more, a short list of Bucks County farms goes a bit farther afield:
- Bountiful Acres, Buckingham (5074 York Road): corn maze, pumpkin patch and hayrides. The 2025 listing showed Monday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Hellerick’s Adventure Farm, Doylestown (5500 N. Easton Road): a five-acre corn maze, open September through November. In 2025 it listed Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at $14.99 per person
- Tabora Farm & Orchard, Chalfont: apple, pumpkin and pear picking. The 2025 listing showed Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Prices and picking days change from year to year, so treat the figures above as a starting point.
Fall Events Beyond the Farm
Orchards aren’t the only fall draw. Peddler’s Village, in Lahaska, appears on a regional events roundup with a Scarecrows in the Village display and an Apple Festival.
A student-written fall roundup also pairs Solebury Orchards with a walk through Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve.
Tips Before You Go
- Call ahead. Local guides consistently advise confirming hours and apple varieties before you head out.
- Reserve early for weekends. Solebury’s reservation slots open Sunday evening for the coming weekend.
- Plan for crowds. Weekends at the popular orchards can get busy.
- Check the picking details. Ask what’s available this week, how it’s priced, and whether you’ll pick from trees or from bins.
What It Says About Living Here
For anyone weighing a move, the pull is the mix. Working orchards and pumpkin farms sit in the same area as a town known for its shops and restaurants. You can pick apples before lunch and be at a table downtown by early afternoon.
If you’re exploring homes near New Hope, a fall weekend of orchard-hopping is a good way to get a feel for the place.
